The Lord was speaking to me about the “Health & Wealth (Prosperity) Gospel via Twitter 5/22/10

The first thing that I want to establish is the Gospel message is summed up in the fact that Jesus, the perfect sacrifice, paid the debt of sin that we (humanity) could never payoff. Our works are nothing but filthy rags (which in the Hebrew meant a woman’s menstrual cloth) & He (Jesus) is the only way that we can fellowship with the Father for eternity. Jesus is our payment for sin & He saved us from the penalty of sin which is eternal damnation, burning in the Eternal Flame and separation from the Lord forever. So when the Good News of Jesus Christ is preached to the masses that is what should be conveyed. Our need for a cure for our sin sickness. The focus should be on Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So my issue with the health & wealth gospel is that the focus is more on what we can get (material) rather than what the Lord gave to us (salvation). Now I’ll share what I do agree with concerning “health & wealth” straight from the Scriptures.
Now the Scriptures tell us there are benefits to being servants of the Lord and they make this very clear. Health being one of them. Go to Psalm 103:1-5 and here David was talking to himself and reminding himself of the benefits of the Lord which are:
- Forgiveness of your sins
- Healing of all your diseases <—HEALTH
- Redemption of your life from the pit
- A crown of love and compassion,
- Your desires are satisfied with good things & the renewal of your strength.
Also the Lord promised vindication for His servants Isaiah 54:17. There are a ton of scriptures that speak on the goodness of the Lord towards His people. So when health is spoken on I believe it because the Scriptures speak of it. Now on the other side of the coin the Lord, in all His providence, does allow sickness/disease to be in a person life for His glory to be seen. Check Job, the woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20), the woman who was bent over for thirteen years (Luke 13:16). These are people who suffered & struggled with sickness and God healed them, at the proper time and for His glory. So that side must also be conveyed. We don’t know what the Lord may be doing through someone’s struggle with sickness but He does. Also it doesn’t mean they lack faith to get healed its a matter of the Lord’s timing & plans. Also its building faith & perseverance in the Believers life which in turn will be a testimony to others who may be suffering and need hope. Imagine how joyful those two women were in Luke 13:16 & Matthew 9:20 when they got healed! Also imagine how many people were drawn to Jesus because they knew of the sufferings the women experienced. Through our sufferings the Lord is glorified. It may not feel good but its a reality. Ok. Now I’ll move onto wealth.
Now wealth according to Scriptures comes from the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:7 “The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.” Now in order for one to handle wealth and a high position the Lord will take a person through many test and trials to make sure when given wealth and position they won’t succumb to pride. Look at David and Joseph’s lives. So when I hear preachers preach “God wants everyone wealthy” well that doesn’t line up because most couldn’t handle the wealth because they’re hearts aren’t right. When God dispenses wealth & gives position its all for a purpose. Like I said before the Lord has a plan for each generation and in this time the Lord will be releasing great wealth for Kingdom purposes to those who have been properly tested. Proverbs 17:16 says:
“Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?”
Why would the Lord give loads of money to a fool? Did you know you can be saved & blood-washed and still be irresponsible and foolish? The answer is YES!
Anyway, we’re about to see Scriptures like Proverbs 13:22 & Ecclesiastes 2:26 come to life in a major way. There will be a transfer of wealth into the hands of people who God have been thoroughly tested and the money will be used for the end times. There is a lot of work to be done and millions of souls waiting. God has plans and one of them is to show what it looks like when money is in the hands of the righteous. Proverbs 29:2 “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.”
So do I believe God wants people wealthy, yes! BUT, for a particular purpose. His purpose.
Psalm 33:11
But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Either way in the end we’ll all be wealthy. After this present creation is destroyed and made new we’ll all be living in the New Jerusalem. We’ll have mansions and enjoy the surrounding displays of God’s riches. Revelation 21.
Alright I’m done. Have a good evening!
