Different view on The National Day of Prayer

I encourage everyone to participate in the day of prayer because our President, country, families and the world is in desperate need of prayer and for the Lord to move. Prayer truly changes things and that is not a cliche. But here’s something to think about. Why do we as Christian actually wait for one day of unified prayer when the Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)? Why is there no push all year around? Prayer is our most effective weapon but is the most underutilized. How things would actually be different in our surroundings if our prayer regiment was like the Muslims who actually pray five times a day. Its hard to get Believers to even pray once a day!

When you have a moment read the book of Daniel. Daniel was a man of faith and prayer and he earnestly prayed three times, which was his custom, and through prayer Daniel received deliverance, revelation and it caused the King of Babylon to become a believer in the Lord. In our day, we want to see change but we don’t pray. All of our energy is expended on bashing and maligning our President but once again we won’t collectively pray for him to meet the Lord and bring about real change.

If we want to see change in our lives we need to be praying. James 5:16 NKJV says “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Effective means “actually in operation or in force; functioning” and fervent means “having or showing great warmth or intensity of spirit, feeling, enthusiasm, etc” So our prayers should be intense, continually operating and by faith know they will be answered.

I pray this ignites you to want to pray to bring the change you and I so desperately need!
