#LessonFromJob

In the midst of trials, loss or sickness, what is your response? Is it like Job or his wife? Job’s response in the face of calamity was “he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.”
His wife was faced with the same trial and her response was “Curse God and die!” He in turn said “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” So how do you respond in the midst of a trial? Like Job we don’t always understand why certain things are happening in our lives but we can rest in these things….Look up James 1:2-4 & Romans 8:28.
Though Job had many ups and downs, all in all he persevered until the end because he made up in his mind long before this trial hit that God was trustworthy and in control and would see him through anything. In the end, all of his suffering and perseverance was rewarded. Isaiah 55:8 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.” Our job is to not lean on our own understanding and try to figure things out but like the old hymn says we are “to trust and obey”.
